Re: Fabricate
Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum Art Lab Michigan State University Re:Fabricate begins with the basic t-shirt in your closet. This participatory community project deconstructed and reconstructed the ubiquitous t-shirt, challenging us to consider the labor and waste imbedded in our world of fast fashion consumption. Re:Fabricate - Yardage Yardage invited members of the community to observe or become part of the community workforce and work alongside the artist to dissemble donated t-shirts, cut the fabric into strips to be sew together. This process returns the t-shirts to a raw material, a bolt of fabric ready to become something new. Re:Fabricate - Small World Tees Small World Tees invited the community to explore the Small World Tees fReETAIL Shop and learn more about the t-shirts that were donated, inventoried, folded, and packaged onsite. Visitors were invited to take a re-branded t-shirt. |
