The Sky is Not Falling
The work is composed of ten thousand sheets of office paper, all folded, shaped, and hung on site using the hands of many participants. The making process was engaged community building activity, many people from many backgrounds coming together to create something that is larger than what a single set of hands could make. I provided intentionally vague instructions to the volunteer makers, i.e. the strings should be an armslength or a wingspan. The piece plays with Relation Aesthetics as each person's hands work the paper is slightly different ways and each string is cut at different lengths.
